Art & Framing at Stapleton May 1-31, 2014

In this show you will see my new series painted with acrylic on raw canvas. What I love about working on raw canvas, wet-into-wet, is getting some of the same effects that happen when working with watercolor on paper--rich saturated colors, soft edges, colors blending in unexpected and beautiful ways. While some of the paintings are more realistic, my heart moves me more toward abstract or non-objective.

Inspiration for my paintings comes from observing and photographing flowers in my garden -- as well as friends' and neighbors' gardens -- many so close that the image is totally abstracted.  I also look for abstract patterns and textures in everyday objects or nature.

Painting has become one of the greattest pleasures of my life -- and I haven't yet reached the age at which Grandma Moses began!!
